Psalm 103:1-5 (JDV)

Psalm 103:1 My throat, bless Yahveh, and all that is within me, bless his sacred name.
Psalm 103:2 My throat, bless Yahveh and do not forget all his benefits.
Psalm 103:3 He forgives all your violations; he heals all your diseases.
Psalm 103:4 He redeems your life from the hole; he crowns you with covenant faithfulness and compassion.
Psalm 103:5 He satisfies you with good things; your youth is renewed like the eagle.

we bless after he blesses

God blesses us with the miraculous benefits of belonging to him and being part of his covenant people. We — in turn — bless him by acknowledging his sacred name and his benefits. Those benefits include:

• forgiveness for all our violations
• healing for all our diseases
• redemption from the bondage leading us toward the hole — the grave
• crowning our lives with the assurance of his covenant faithfulness and compassion toward us
• satisfaction from good things
• renewal of our youth

Remember these benefits the next time you come to him in prayer.
