Psalm 55:4-8 (JDV)

Psalm 55:4 My heart writhes within me; terrors of death sweep over me.
Psalm 55:5 Fear and trembling grip me; horror has overwhelmed me.
Psalm 55:6 I said, “If only I had wings like a dove! I would fly away and find rest.
Psalm 55:7 How far away I would run; I would stay in the open country. Selah
Psalm 55:8 I would hurry to my shelter from the raging wind and the storm.

David knows where to go for shelter when life is storming all around him. For him, prayer was not just a spiritual discipline. It was a survival technique. We need this gift in our lives if we expect to survive the raging storms life will throw in our way.
