Num 2:22 Then the tribe of Benjamin, the general from the sons of Benjamin being Abidan the son of Gideoni,
Num 2:23 his company as mustered being 35,400.
Num 2:24 All those mustered of the camp of Ephraim, by their companies, were 108,100. They will set out third on the march.

my lumberjack

General Abidan’s father was Gideoni, which in today’s English would translate as “my lumberjack.” It was kind of an odd name to take into the desert, but it probably took on new meaning for the people of the exodus. It spoke of strength to cut down the old traditions and plant new ones. An army of lumberjacks would be ready to replace the standing order with God’s new order. Are we?

LORD, make us a people of strength, ready to replace the old with the new.
