Eccl. 3:1-8. The new year offers a chance to commit myself to doing some of the things I wanted to, but never got around to last year. I have 365 days to turn my life around — lose that weight, make those friends, take that course, get that job, pray those prayers, win those people to Christ … The mistakes of the past year can be put behind me. My God forgives. The new year is also a good time to reflect on the past and evaluate what it was that I got right — the things I want to keep doing. It’s always the season to keep being spiritually successful.
LORD, we dedicate this new year to your kingdom.
