Ezekiel 39:21-24 (JDV)

Ezekiel 39:21 “I will display my impressive appearance among the nations, and all the nations will see the judgment I have enacted and the hand I have laid on them.
Ezekiel 39:22 From that day forward the house of Israel will know that I am Yahveh their God.
Ezekiel 39:23 And the nations will know that the house of Israel went into exile on account of their violation because they dealt unfaithfully with me. Therefore, I hid my face from them and handed them over to their enemies, so that they all fell by the sword.
Ezekiel 39:24 I dealt with them according to their uncleanness and rebellions, and I hid my face from them.

his history

History is His Story — that is what the nations would learn. They would learn that the exile was not the result of Yahveh’s weakness, but an act of justice from Yahveh because his own people had dealt unfaithfully with him. The restoration would also be a historical event proving God’s impressive appearance among the nations.

As we approach the new year, we would be wise to learn that God shows himself in the events of history. Sometimes history shows the evil work of Adam’s race, and God seems to be hiding his face. But there will also be signs of God’s intervention.

LORD, may this new year be a revelation of your glory and justice.
