Ezekiel 33:30-33 (JDV)
Ezekiel 33:30 “As for you, son of Adam, your people are talking about you near the city walls and in the doorways of their houses. One person speaks to another, each saying to his brother, ‘Come and hear what the message is that comes from Yahveh!’
Ezekiel 33:31 So my people come to you in crowds, sit in front of you, and hear your words, but they don’t obey them. Their mouths go on passionately, but their hearts pursue dishonest profit.
Ezekiel 33:32 Notice, to them you are like a singer of passionate songs who has a beautiful voice and plays skillfully on an instrument. They hear your words, but they don’t obey them.
Ezekiel 33:33 Yet when all this comes true – and it definitely will – then they will know that a prophet has been among them.”

Matthew Mead wrote — a long time ago — these words:
“Now then, if a man may delight in the word more because of the eloquence of the preacher than because of the spiritualness of the matter; if he may delight to hear the word and yet not delight to do it: he may delight in the word and yet be almost a Christian.” 1
There are many today who enjoy a good passionate spiritual song, or even a good sermon, but how many really know the LORD?
LORD, make us true believers who love to hear your truth and to obey it.
