Psalm 33:10-12
Psalm 33:10 Yahveh frustrates the advice of the nations; he thwarts the plans of the peoples.
Psalm 33:11 The advice of Yahveh stands permanently, the plans of his heart from generation to generation.
Psalm 33:12 Fortunate is the nation whose God is Yahveh – the people he has chosen to be his own possession!
a word for good citizens
I would never encourage any people to be a bad citizens of the nation they are living in. But I would encourage good citizens to think outside the box of good citizenship. God is the God of the universe. His will goes beyond the scope of my country’s constitution. His advice frustrates that of all the nations, because it stands permanently.
As Christians, we are used to thinking outside our national boxes because we have been given a Great Commission by Christ to reach all nations for him.
And, as good citizens ourselves, we Christians need to always be thinking of how we can make our nations God’s own possession. That cannot happen to any nation perfectly in this age until Christ returns. But that should never stop us from doing all we can to win our nation for him.
Lord, may we be good citizens, and great disciples.
