Psalm 33:1-3
Psalm 33:1 Give a ringing cry, you righteous ones in Yahveh; praise from the upright is beautiful.
Psalm 33:2 Praise Yahveh with the lyre; make music to him with a ten-stringed harp.
Psalm 33:3 Sing a new song to him; play skillfully on the strings, with a joyful shout.
how to worship
This psalmist begins with an invitation to worship and then spends then spends the rest of the psalm explaining why we should worship. But this first part is not about why we should worship. It explains how to worship.
- Worship genuinely, because praise from the upright is beautiful. Praise from the wicked is hypocrisy.
- Worship skillfully, because time spend in developing music gifts is time well-spent.
- Worship intensely, with a ringing cry and a joyful shout. Worship is not rest. It’s a work-sacrifice in honor of God who is worth the effort.
We are approaching the throne of our Creator King. We need to do it right.
