Psalm 28:6-9
Psalm 28:6 Blessed be Yahveh, because he has heard the sound of my pleading.
Psalm 28:7 Yahveh is my strength and my shield; my heart trusts in him, and I am helped. Therefore my heart celebrates, and I give thanks to him with my song.
Psalm 28:8 Yahveh is the strength of his people; he is a stronghold of rescue for his anointed.
Psalm 28:9 Save your people, make your possession fortunate, tend them, and carry them permanently.
our strength
The previous section of this psalm was a prayer for God and an encouragement for the psalmist to wait with certainty. This section was a declaration that the waiting was worth it – because God answered the prayer. It was a declaration of thanks and a request for God to show the same strength by rescuing all his people.
Today I am discouraged. I have been waiting for a favorable answer, and it did not come. But I choose to declare that the Lord is my strength and the strength of his people.
Lord, we wait for you, because you are our strength.
