Melchizedek appears in Genesis 14 as:

- Priest of God Most High.
- One who blesses Abraham.
- One who receives tithes from Abraham.
He is described as:
- Without father or mother.
- Without genealogy.
- Without beginning or end.

Melchizedek is a divinely designed picture pointing forward to Christ’s eternal priesthood.
2. Melchizedek’s Greatness Demonstrated (7:4–10)
- Abraham gave Melchizedek a tithe — showing Melchizedek’s superiority.
- Levi (still “in Abraham”) also paid tithes through Abraham.
- Thus, Melchizedek’s priesthood is greater than the Levitical priesthood.

3. A New Priesthood Means a New Covenant (7:11–19)
- The Levitical priesthood could not bring perfection.
- A new priest “after the order of Melchizedek” was necessary.
- Jesus, from Judah (not Levi), becomes priest by the power of an indestructible life.
- The law is set aside because it was weak and useless to save.
- A better hope is introduced — one that brings us near to God.

- They were sinners; Jesus is holy, innocent, unstained.
Therefore:
- He saves to the uttermost.
- He always lives to intercede for His people.

Hebrews 8 — The Better Covenant and the True Sanctuary
1. The Main Point: We Have This High Priest (8:1–2)
- Jesus is seated at the right hand of Majesty.
- He ministers in the true heavenly sanctuary.
- The earthly tabernacle was only a shadow.
Teaching emphasis:
Christ’s ministry is real and heavenly — not symbolic or temporary.
2. Earthly Priests Serve a Copy (8:3–5)
- Priests on earth offer gifts according to the law.
- But their service is patterned after the heavenly reality.
- Moses was warned to build everything according to the pattern shown on the mountain.
