John 14:25-27
Joh 14:25 “I have spoken these things to you while I am staying with you.
Joh 14:26 But the Discipler, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, will teach you all things and remind you of everything I have said to you.
Joh 14:27 “Peace I leave with you. My peace I give to you. I do not give to you like the world gives. Don’t let your heart be agitated or intimidated.
Peace gift
The peace Jesus gave His disciples during His earthly ministry was a peace anchored in His visible presence. As long as He was with them, they could face diversity, opposition, and uncertainty with confidence. His nearness steadied them. His authority reassured them. His words calmed them. Their peace was not abstract—it was relational.
But Jesus knew that once He returned to the Father and the invisible Discipler, the Holy Spirit, took over their formation, they would face new temptations: anxiety, fear, and even cowardice. Without His physical presence, the pressures of the world would feel heavier. So He warned them—not to frighten them, but to prepare them. The peace He gives is not fragile. It is not dependent on circumstances. It is not the world’s peace. It is His peace, sustained by His Spirit.
And that promise extends into the present age.
The Holy Spirit has been given, and that gift is not revoked when life becomes difficult. God does not withdraw His presence when courage is needed most. The same Spirit who steadied the apostles steadies believers today. The same peace that guarded their hearts guards ours. The same presence that empowered them empowers all who trust in Christ.
Challenges will come. Pressures will rise. But the peace Jesus gives is not temporary, conditional, or vulnerable. It is anchored in the unchanging presence of God.
Lord, thank You for the peace gift.
