Psalm 126:1-6 (JDV)

Psalm 126:1 [A song of festival caravans.] When Yahveh restored the fortunes of Zion, we were like dreamers.
Psalm 126:2 Our mouths were filled with laughter then, and our tongues with shouts of joy. Then they said among the nations, “Yahveh has done great things for them.”
Psalm 126:3 Yahveh had done great things for us; we were joyful.
Psalm 126:4 Restore our fortunes, Yahveh, like channels in the Negev.
Psalm 126:5 Those who sow in tears will reap with shouts of joy.
Psalm 126:6 Though one goes along weeping, carrying the bag of seed, he will surely come back with shouts of joy, carrying his sheaves.

The LORD is the one who restores. The imagery is that of harvest joy even though the planting was done in sorrow. Much of our lives we will have to be doing the right thing, not knowing whether it will result in any kind of satisfaction or success. We have to trust the God who restores. He has our future in his hands.

LORD, give us wisdom to trust you during the planting season, the long days when we see no sprouts.
