an unopposed reign

Psalm 125:1-5 (JDV)

Psalm 125:1 [A song of festival caravans.] Those who trust in Yahveh are like Mount Zion. It cannot be shaken; it stays permanently.
Psalm 125:2 The mountains surround Jerusalem and Yahveh surrounds his people, now until forever.
Psalm 125:3 The scepter of the wicked will not remain over the land allotted to the righteous, otherwise the righteous would apply their hands to injustice.
Psalm 125:4 Do good, Yahveh, to the good, to those whose hearts are upright.
Psalm 125:5 But as for those who turn aside to crooked roads, Yahveh will lead them to the evildoers. Peace be with Israel.

an unopposed reign

The LORD promises that the scepter of wickedness shall not rest on the land allotted to the righteous. This assured Israel that their nation would not remain in bondage to a heathen king. It assures us that our Adversary will not usurp the throne of the earth forever. His fall is as certain as that of the kings of ancient Assyria and Babylon.

LORD, thank you for your Son, who will reign for eternity – unopposed.
