Psalm 32:6-7
Psalm 32:6 This is why everyone who is faithful should pray to you immediately. When great floodwaters come, they will not capture him.
Psalm 32:7 You are my hiding place; you protect me from trouble. You surround me with joyful shouts of deliverance.(Selah).
keeping God on speed-dial
David says that God is his hiding place and protector, but he does not say that God prevents the floodwaters from coming. Rather, he says that when the floodwaters come, they will not capture him. He has learned to let God be his protector by praying to God immediately as soon as the trouble begins.
A relationship with God is not disaster insurance. Godly people are not immune to the results of the depravity of humanity or the sometimes catastrophic results of creation’s downward slide.1 But we do have a helper we call call to at any time.
Lord, give us the wisdom to keep you on speed-dial.
