Psalm 24. The ESV Study Bible notes: “This psalm seems fitted for some liturgical occasion, perhaps one that celebrates the way that David brought the ark of the Lord into Jerusalem (2 Samuel 6); this would explain the interest in God’s presence in Ps. 24:3–6, and the address to the gates in v. 7–10. ” It may also look forward to the return of Christ, for he is the King of glory who is coming, to whom the gates of Jerusalem must open. The generation who will see this is the generation who seeks his face (6). They will be given righteousness from the God of their salvation, and blessing. The benefits of our relationship with God through Christ begin today, but are only a taste of what will be ours at his return.
LORD, we seek your face. Come Lord Jesus!
