shout, sing, play music

Psalm 98:4-6 (JDV)

Psalm 98:4 Whole land, shout to Yahveh; be jubilant, shout for joy, and sing.
Psalm 98:5 Sing to Yahveh using the lyre, using the lyre and melodious song.
Psalm 98:6 Use trumpets and the blast of the ram’s horn shout triumphantly in the presence of Yahveh, our King.

shout, sing, play music

There is a time for silent reverence, and there is a time for loud rejoicing and singing. There is a time for a capella, and there is a time to blend your voice with the sound of stringed instruments (like the lyre) and wind instruments (like trumpets and ram’s horns). It is entirely appropriate to respond to God’s presence with a joyful sound — a melodious song accopanied by well played music.
