Leviticus 9:12-14
Lev 9:12 Then he killed the ascending offering and Aaron’s sons handed him the blood, and he threw it against the sides of the altar.
Lev 9:13 And they handed the ascending offering to him, piece by piece, and the head, and he burned them on the altar.
Lev 9:14 And he washed the entrails and the legs and burned them with the ascending offering on the altar.
reconnection
The horns at the top of the altar, and base at the bottom, had already been covered by the blood of the mistake offering. But the sides of the altar got their covering from the next sacrifice — the ascending offering. This perfectly symbolised the full atonement that was bought for us by the death of Christ. He not only paid the price of forgiveness for our mistakes, he also made a way for us to reconnect to God. His sacrifice of his life made it possible for us to restore our relationship with God who is in heaven. He is the way back to a relationship with the Most High God.
LORD, thank you for making a way for us to know our Creator again.
