awkward moments

SDC138781 Kings 1:1-27

Circumstances conspired to bring about some awkward moments for several people in today’s text.

  1. There were awkward moments for David, who had to feel uncomfortable in the presence of his wife, Nathan the prophet, and the beautiful nurse who was keeping him warm.
  2. There were awkward moments for Bathsheba, because of her husband’s nurse, and because of the prophet who had convicted him of unfaithfulness and murder years before.
  3. There were awkward moments for Nathan, who must now intercede to defend Bathsheba and her son Solomon, to keep them from being killed by Adonijah.
  4. There were awkward moments for  Abishag, who was just trying to do her duty, but was caught up in a dangerous trap.

LORD, when we face awkward moments, give us courage to trust you.
