1 Samuel 14

This chapter highlights the loyalty of the people in the early Israelite monarchy.

1. Jonathan’s armor bearer tells him that he is with him, heart and soul (7).
2. Some traitors returned to fight for Israel after Jonathan started the battle (21).
3. Jonathan himself was willing to be killed out of loyalty to his father (43).
4. The people stood up for Jonathan, and would not allow him to be killed because of Saul’s rash vow (45). 

LORD, make us people who are loyal to each other, and to you.
