Numbers 1     A potential army in excess of 600,000 men is formidable in any age.  The census was meant to be an encouragement to the Israelites. It was intended to remind them that God has been faithful, and to bring them courage as they face obstacles to reaching their objective: the promised land. 

We, also, need to stop and take a look at those walking with us on the way to eternity.  If we look closely, we will be encouraged seeing how God has brought these people to us as a gift of fellowship.  They are visible signs of God’s faithfulness to his covenant.

LORD, thank you for the others who march by our side.
