Exodus: life, grace and deliverance

redsea870Exodus 11:1-12:30

The symbol that the Israelites were told to produce on their doorposts looked like a letter of the Hebrew alphabet: the letter chet. It is the first letter in the word for life (chayim), and also the first letter in two words for grace (chen, 11:3, and chesed, 20:6) and the word translated “he spared” in 12:27, a reference to deliverance by the blood. Whatever the reference was, it was clear that God was sending a message, not only to the Israelites, but to us as well. He is the source of our deliverance.

LORD, thank you for your grace, which has delivered us by the blood of the Lamb.
