Luke 5:1-6:16. In a collection of stories, Luke relates how Jesus chose his apostles. He relied upon answered prayer and the work of the Holy Spirit, who found a way to overcome every obstacle.
- He found a way to teach when there were too many crowds on the beach (5:1-11).
- He found a way for Jesus to get away and pray (5:12-16).
- He found a way to get the paralytic to Jesus (5:17-26).
- He found a way to reach those that others rejected (5:27-32).
- He found a way to do good on the Sabbath (5:33-6:11).
- He found a way to carry on Christ’s ministry (6:12-16).
LORD, there are many obstacles that we will face when we determine to serve you and reach others with your gospel. We trust your Holy Spirit to find a way around all of them. Grant us perseverance, so that the obstacles do not deter us from continuing your mission.
