good news and bad news

SDC12549 Isaiah 2.  The prophet has good news and bad news. First, the good news.  The light of the LORD will some day bring peace between the nations, ending the need for swords and spears.  The prophet calls on God’s people to walk in that light (and that peace) today.  But he also has bad news. Before the deliverance happens, there will be judgment, because the house of Jacob is full of things from the east:  fortune-tellers, foreign allegiances, stuff, idols. All these things keep the children of Jacob from being faithful to their LORD.

LORD, help us to get rid of all the stuff in our lives that is keeping us from being faithful to you. Prepare us for your reign.
