the unthinkable

Abram w stars C-350 Romans 4.  Abraham put his faith in the God who promised him the unthinkable. He would become the father of many nations because he chose to believe what God promised.  Abraham’s faith would have been a ridiculous thing if there were not a God to serve as its object — a God who gives life to the dead and calls into existence the things that do not exist.  Faith in the unthinkable can only be explained by the existence of the God of the unthinkable. The good news in Romans is that God offers his own righteousness to us all through faith in his promise.

LORD, grant us the courage to believe the unthinkable as our father Abraham did.
