Rev. 3. Oh, Church of Jesus Christ. The One who saved you by his grace is very interested in the quality of your works (1,8,15). He has not found them complete (2). He sees you doing those things that enhance your reputation, but that is not what he wants. He tastes the lukewarm works, and finds them hard to swallow (15-16). He counsels you to wake up, and strengthen what remains and is about to die (2). He counsels you to buy from him the clothing, medicine and things of lasting value that will remove your shame (18). He loves you, and is pleading for you to repent and restore your relationship with him (19-20).
LORD, thank you for saving us by your grace. Now grant us the wisdom to conquer our own pride and laziness.
