Rev. 2.  Four churches. Each is in the Roman province of Asia Minor. Each has to deal with serious problems within its fellowship. False apostles and false prophets. Spiritual fatigue. False accusations. Jesus does not promise to rescue them from their current tribulations. Instead he encourages them to remain true to him during the trials they face. The one who conquers will receive new life and new authority (7,11,17,26).

This message applied first to four churches in 1 AD, but the messenger meant it not just for them, but for anyone who has an ear (2,7,11,17,29).  If you are going through a time of trouble, check to see if the earmuffs fit.

LORD, help us to conquer the trouble we are in by staying true to the faith. Your reward is worth the trouble.
