to be like a tree

SDC11567 Job 14:7-15.  Job is depressed by the limitations of his mortal life. He imagines what it would be like if he were like a tree. Even after it is cut down, there is hope that the stump might sprout again to new life. He prays that God might hide him in Sheol (the state of death) and then remember him. He imagines God calling, and then his dead body would hear God’s voice and answer. Jesus says that Job’s wish will come true one day (John 5:28-29). We are like trees!

LORD, thank you for the hope of the resurrection.
