1 Peter 1:3-4

1 Peter 1:3 Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ. Because of his great mercy he has given us new birth into a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead
1 Peter 1:4 and into an inheritance that is imperishable, undefiled, and unfading, kept in heaven for you.

The hope that believers have today is not linked to anything we were born with. It is not tied to our having immortal souls. It is based entirely on the fact that our Lord was raised from the dead, never to experience death again. Our hope is not that we will fly away when we die, but that we also will be raised from death at Christ’s return, never to die again.
